The same is true of Sin City’s diverse food scene. In the city that brought us the notorious Heart Attack Grill and sprawling buffets, whether you want to consume your body weight or indulge in the finer things in life, you can do it in Vegas.
The Strip’s massive casino resorts all come with expansive food courts dishing up everything from midnight pizza to fine-dining tasting menus. There’s no denying that food choices on the Strip are all encompassing, but dining in resort comes with a hefty price tag and is often anything but relaxing.
For a more enjoyable experience, you need to seek out the venues loved by locals. To help, we’ve brought together our pick of the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas.

1. Bonito Michoacan Mexican Restaurant
The first on our rundown of the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas is hidden away on Decatur Boulevard, far away from the Strip’s crowds. There’s no shortage of great Mexican restaurants in Vegas, but Bonito Michoacan is up there with the best of them.
Their menu comes complete with a staggering 16 pages of tasty delights. From the Mexican classics we all know and love to creative house specialties curated by their executive chef, choosing a delicious entrée here is no game of chance.
Highlights include enchiladas prepared in traditional Michoacan style with a special house sauce, cotija cheese and onions with your choice of meat (they’re also available 100% meat-free). If you’re feeling adventurous, try Bonito’s take on surf and turf, Don Chico mar & tierra.
Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as with many of the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas, Bonito’s prices are always a bargain. If you want to save even more, stop by during their weekday happy hour from 2 pm to 5 pm.
2. The Spot LV
Not only one of the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas, The Spot LV is one of Sin City’s top-rated eateries. A favorite amongst locals, The Spot’s take on simple American classics always hits the spot. The stars of the show here are undoubtedly their towering burgers and sandwiches.
Whether you’re craving a juicy traditional hamburger or want to push the boat out with a pulled pork grilled cheese, you’ll never leave The Spot with an empty stomach. A mouth-watering highlight, their pork belly bahn mi will transport you straight to the streets of Hanoi.
If between bread isn’t your style, you can be sure to find plenty of other great pub classics on The Spot’s menu. From fish and chips, British-style, to flank steak, chicken parmesan and freshly prepared salads, all tastes are catered for. Open daily for all-day dining, it’s well worth stopping by for one of their craft cocktails alone.
3. Battista’s Hole in the Wall
When in Vegas, or should that be Rome, there’s never a bad time for Italian food. A local institution for 55 years, Battista’s Hole in the Wall has long been one of the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas. Better still, it’s not that far off the Strip at all. Just one block east of Las Vegas Boulevard, right behind the Flamingo, Battista’s makes an ideal fuel stop whilst exploring the Strip.
Founded by Battista Locatelli, an Italian immigrant from Bergamo, just outside Milan, Battista’s is a celebration of Italian culinary traditions. All meals begin with a bowl of freshly made Minestrone soup and include a pasta course, side of garlic bread and even a glass of house wine, plus a cappuccino to finish. As is becoming a theme with all the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas, this three-course feast is yours for less than the cost of an entrée in most resorts.
There’s a great choice of entrees, with classics like spaghetti and meatballs or lasagna, plus heaty veal piccata, marsala and parmigiana. Seafood lovers will rejoice at the shrimp scampi and ever-changing fish of the day, and if you’re craving a meat-fix, their steak is always on point.
Open daily for dinner, Battista’s is perfect for an early, pre-show meal.
As one of Vegas’ most popular Italians, they do get busy. Whilst they’ve grown from the hole in the wall it all began as, I always recommend making a reservation, especially if you’re traveling in a larger group.
4. Marrakech Mediterranean Restaurant
A day in Las Vegas can lead you pretty much anywhere. Dining at one of the best restaurants off the strip in Las Vegas can take you to Marrakesh. Namesake Marrakech Mediterranean Restaurant is another long-time Vegas favorite.
It all started in 1979 when Moroccan chef Mustafa Alioua brought the traditional North African dinner experience to Sin City, complete with belly dancers and a six-course tasting menu. Marrakech’s unique approach to dining is still going strong almost half a century on.
In contrast with the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas we’ve seen so far, you’ll have no trouble choosing your meal at Marrakech. Every diner is served a six-course tasting menu featuring favorites from Morocco and around the Mediterranean. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, and in keeping with local traditions, all their meat is halal.
Open daily for dinner, Marrakech is conveniently located just behind the Sphere, only a couple of blocks from the Strip. I strong recommend making a booking.
5. Binion’s Cafe
A meal at Binion’s is a trip back in time. This no-thrills restaurant tucked away in Binion’s Gambling Hall is a homage to the all-American diner of a bygone era. In the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, just steps from iconic Fremont Street, Binion’s Café is the pick of the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas from breakfast classics.
Aside from all the breakfast stapes, Binion’s all-day menu features plenty of hearty comfort food. Go for a giant chicken fried steak, Korean BBQ chicken or beer battered fish and chips. All entrees come with a cup of the soup of the day or a house salad, and yet again, the prices are so low you’d be forgiven for forgetting that this is Las Vegas.
Open every day from early morning, late into the evening, Binion’s is a piece of Vegas history that you can’t afford to miss.
6. Hot N Juicy Crawfish
Bringing a taste of New Orleans to Vegas, Hot N Juicy Crawfish’s Downtown location is perfect for a casual lunch. Celebrating all things Creole, it’s the flavour explosion which earns Hot N Juicy their place as one of the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas.
If your stomach’s growling, their enormous platters will soon placate your hunger. Their signature, Get Your Feet Wet, comes with a pound each of shrimp and crawfish, mixed in with Andouille sausage, corn on the cob and potatoes. If that hunger is truly insatiable, upgrade to The Drool which adds snow crab and calamari to the mix.
For something a little lighter, go for one of their NOLA-style PoBoys. And, if you’re not in the mood for fish, they also have chicken tenders. Whatever you have, leave room for a generous helping of fried brownies to finish.
7. Fat Choy
The Vegas go-to for Asian fusion, Fat Choy serve up a contemporary take on American and Asian classics. Just off the northern-end of the Las Vegas Strip, this friendly diner in the Eureka casino serves lunch and dinner every day, with weekend brunch on offer too.
Aside from an extensive choice of sandwiches, Fat Choy highlights include Chinese staples like wonton soup, Japanese-inspired teriyaki salmon and Singapore-style noodles. Every weekday, their rotating daily specials offer unbeatable value, with fresh pasta dishes every Monday, Taco Tuesdays, spare ribs on Thursday and Fish Fridays.
8. Garden Court
No list of the best restaurants off the Strip in Las Vegas, or any restaurants in Las Vegas for that matter, would be complete without mention of one of Sin City’s famous buffets. Whilst the big-name buffets are in on-Strip resorts, Downtown is home to some of the best.
Housed in historic Main Street Station, Garden Court is our pick of the pack. Not to mention, it’s the best value by a long shot.
True to its name, decorated to look like a Victorian garden, a meal here is a meal surrounded by trees. Open for brunch daily, on Friday and Saturday nights, Garden Court serves dinner too. The menu selection is endless.
Of course, there’s the usual buffet staples. From pizza and pasta to hand-carved prime rib, Garden Court has everything you’d expect from a Vegas buffet. But the real highlights here are the speciality stations. The cream of the crop is the Hawaiian station. Take a trip to the tropics with favorites including Mahi Mahi, Kua Lock and Soou Chicken.
