Unlike certain parts of Vietnam, Hoi An is blessed with amazing weather pretty much all year round. The sun is always out to play, the air is balmy and there are always travelers arriving in one of the country’s most frequented destinations.
A huge part of what sets Hoi An apart (other than its incomparable Ancient Town) is its coastline! As part of the Quang Nam province, this area of Vietnam is tropical personified! But before you get any ideas, the beaches in Vietnam, in general, are nothing like those of Thailand or Indonesia.
The beaches pretty much veer up along the same coastline, boasting soft white (ish) sands and a deep blue ocean — that lightens ever so slightly depending on the time of day. Coconut trees scatter the sands, and many of the beaches are home to seafood restaurants and beach bars. Most are fabulous for watersports and activities, from swimming to beach volleyball.
With that, here is our list of the 7 best Hoi An beaches worth exploring!

When is the best time of year to visit Hoi An?
The best time of year to visit the best Hoi An beaches is typically from the end of February to late August, when it experiences the least amount of rainfall. Unlike Hanoi, for example, this is its dry period whereas monsoon season hits the capital city from June.
But if you are wondering about Hoi An’s rainy period, this is usually from September up until about January. That being said, temperatures drop slightly during these months, but nothing as freezing cold as up north!
7 Best Hoi An beaches
1. An Bang Beach Hoi An: A tourist hot spot
It all goes down at An Bang Beach! Watersports, beach bars, cafes to chill at where you can rent sun loungers for the day with a cocktail in hand, seafood restaurants for lunch (and others open for brekkie and dinner), beachfront accommodation, and and and. Speaking of food, my favorite spot along here is The DeckHouse.
An Bang Beach is Hoi An’s main beach, making it, as you would say, your “number one tourist beach.” The stretch of soft white sand is lined with eateries, hotels, homestays, and people, and it’s always busy and has a real vibe. There’s a rather boho feel to An Bang, too. Outdoor sports to join include surfing, swimming, beach volleyball, and kayaking.

I love An Bang for cocktail hour and listening to groovy tunes, but often choose one of the other best beaches in Hoi An if wanting to escape the crowds.
P.S. Leading to the beach, the main road is home to some restaurants and shops, including the popular (and delicious) Blu Mart Greek Souvlaki!
P.P.S. If you’re arriving by motorbike, there is a parking garage just opposite the Greek spot.
2. Cua Dai Beach: For chilling, water sporting and eating
Palm trees, fresh cold coconuts, and a strew of seafood restaurants, Cua Dai Beach is probably the second most popular of the best Hoi An beaches. Expect soft white sands and depending on the tide, some fun waves.
Just a ten-minute drive from the main tourist center, An Bang Beach, it’s not as busy but it’s not quiet either.

Unfortunately, in recent years it’s experienced some erosion, so the beach is still underway in a rejuvenation process, and there are still sandbanks scattered across the shore to help get it back to its original state. But that doesn’t mean travelers don’t come to hang out here anymore.
It’s situated at the confluence of three rivers: Truong Giang River, De Vong River, and Thu Bon River) and is roughly five kilometers from the center of Hoi An.
3. Ha My beach: Relaxed vibes
The first time I ever stayed in Hoi An we chose an accommodation that was literally on Ha My Beach (well, about one meter away to be exact), and I fell in love with its serenity from the get-go.
There’s virtually nothing around in terms of restaurants, bars, sun loungers, etc — but this is one of the reasons I fell in love with this area. We spent many days here playing music with friends, having our own personal picnics, and lounging about under the sunshine with no one to bother us. One night we even made a bonfire, but please, if you plan on doing the same, leave no remnants behind and clean up the beach afterward!

There is the stunning Four Seasons Resort around the corner, too (it’s one of our favorite places to stay in Hoi An. I just love how the waves here are mellow enough to swim in. But on that note, there are no lifeguards in sight. I’m a strong swimmer and always feel safe in the ocean, but be extra careful at all times and I wouldn’t recommend letting your children just swim here.

4. Binh Minh: Come to escape the crowds
For those who are searching for a beach away from the crowds, yet still showcasing the charm of Quảng Nam province’s beachscape, Binh Minh is a wonderful option.
Straight off the bat, you should know that it’s about a 30-minute drive from the Ancient Town, but in the opposite direction of Danang-side. But I think it’s pretty mellow in my opinion, and it’s kind of a standard thing when hunting down the quieter beaches in any destination.

Behind the beach is the Bliss Hoi An Beach Resort if you’re keen on grabbing a bite to eat here. But other than that, the shoreline remains pretty untouched — except for local fishermen from the nearby village doing their thang. It’s a lovely spot for couples, or those seeking a reprieve from people, and it’s also famed as a gorgeous sunrise locale.
5. Cu Lao Cham: Home to three pristine beaches
Are you up for a little bit of an adventure? While Cu Lao Cham is technically an island, it’s super duper easy to reach and is home to three stunning beaches that are especially great for snorkeling, not to mention boast bluer waters than the beaches along Hoi An’s immediate shoreline.
The beaches here are often listed as part of Hoi An, and getting to the island is hassle-free. There are a few options, and all are affordable. Catch a 15-minute speedboat or cruise across on a wooden boat (but this journey is longer, and takes about 1.5 hours).

So on the island itself, Bai Chong is the best swimming beach, as well as for scuba diving, Bai Ong is a snorkel hot spot and Bai Xep is the most “untouched” of the three.
6. Hidden Beach: Between An Bang and Cua Dai Beach
If you’re checking out a map, you’ll notice that An Bang Beach and Cua Dai Beach are along the same coastline, just 4.5 kilometers apart from each other. Now, Hidden Beach is virtually smack bang in between the two and is five minutes from either of these beaches (if you’re in a vehicle).
Although it’s a short distance, it’s a funny one as the beach is not as busy as either An Bang or Cua Dai. But if you do want to check out either of the locales, it’s a short motorbike/taxi drive away or enjoy a leisurely half-hour stroll along the ocean’s shore.

Hoi An’s famous bamboo baskets decorate the beachfront, and there are some restaurants here as well. Or, look out for one of the local chi oi’s offering massages and fall into utter relaxation for the day!
7. Coconut Beach: Chilled vibes
So, the best Hoi An beaches are all pretty much dotted along its coastline, and so each one is pretty easy to navigate. Hoi An isn’t overly massive either, and so the beaches in general are pretty close to one another.
Coconut Beach is another prime example. If you’re heading from Hidden Beach in the direction of Cua Dai Beach, Coconut Beach is on the same strip. It’s about 15 minutes after Hidden Beach, and then another 20 minutes to Cua Dai Beach — if you’re walking along the beach that is.
It shares the same makeup as the others: soft white sands, deep blue ocean, and the possibility of watersports, tanning, catching the sunset, or lazing about with a book in hand.
