"It was foreign languages that first introduced me to the joy of travel and exploration. New destinations come alive when you experience them from the inside, and using French, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese and Greek has given me an insatiable appetite to see as much of the world as possible. Having lived in London, Oxford, Beijing, Hong Kong and Athens, and worked widely in high-school teaching and translation, I travel as often as I can, with a strong preference for off-beat destinations and embracing the unexpected.
