1. IMOMENT CAFÉ: Instagrammable everything
I’m having a moment for IMOMENT CAFÉ, where every last detail is as sweet as pie. This spot reminds me of the typical “trendy” cafes of Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. These kinds of cutesy eateries with pretty and soft interiors, and desserts that match, is what I’m talking about.
IMOMENT matches in every way, and it’s a local favorite for the best brunch in Kuala Lumpur.

What I love about the menu is the combination of Malaysian and Western bites, using natural ingredients. Go for options like the crab croquette benedict (served with avo mash and kale chips), a tropical jackfruit salad, grilled cheese on sourdough, Korean spicy chicken wrap, truffle pasta, or a boba Earl Grey chiffon cake.
Drinks are just as exciting and diverse. Order a peach sparkling americano, lady rose matcha, teddy bear latte, or a botanical-infused beverage.
2. Naj & Belle: Best watermelon cake in Malaysia
Ever tried watermelon cake before? Well, Naj & Belle boast Malaysia’s ultimate watermelon cake — legit.
I saw watermelon becoming a trend a while back, and I remember Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco did a watermelon and pickle sandwich taste test. I’m also a fan of the Kardashians, and their private chef, Chef K, has been doing all sorts of watermelon stack sandwiches on social media recently. Hey, I’m always on top of the latest food trends.

You need to try this layered dessert here (all the desserts look scrumptious, especially the fruity pavlova). But it’s not the only thing on the menu, and all options are very interesting.
‘Benny the Bull’ (done with poached eggs, baby spinach, and slow-cooked beef); whole poached salmon with eggs and pita bread; and extra crispy Bombastic Chicken Burger are all mouth-watering!
3. Urban Daybreak: For a trendy taste of Australia
If you’re anything of a foodie, you already know that Melbourne is home to an incredible let-me-take-out-my-phone-and-snap-every-single-food-pic cafe scene! Urban Daybreak is Melbourne-inspired, meaning the food is as classic, fresh, and fashionable as it gets!
And let’s be real, Aussies know a thing or two about brunch. No surprises that this is a top spot for the best brunch in Kuala Lumpur.

Straight off the bat, order the chicken and waffles; it’s a signature.
I also love their corn fritter with avo salsa, poached egg, jalapeño, and coriander cream. Or, how about sourdough topped with berry jam, homemade ricotta, pine nuts, and tomatoes? In the mood for a sweet brunch? The peach crumble is delicious.
4. Estelle Bagel: Inventive
When living in Hanoi, Vietnam, there was a place I’d go to weekly for bagels: Canadian-inspired Joma Cafe. Ever since, my cravings have continued. I know it may seem pretty random to have an all-bagel eatery on a list of the best brunch in Kuala Lumpur, but tell that to any New Yorker, and they’d beg to differ. Plus, once you indulge in the bagels from Estelle, you’ll instantly understand why it’s a great spot for in-between breakfast and lunch hour.
These bagels are created in-house, hand-rolled (with love), and baked fresh daily.

And if you hadn’t guessed by now, the bagel offerings are both sweet and savory, and with plenty of unique flavors! Some of the bagels are stuffed, others just topped with ingredients.
There’s the bacon corn melt, stuffed cheese, Honey Lane (a sesame bagel filled with whipped cream and drizzled in honey), the Cheesesteak, the Mish-Mosh 2.0 (a portobello mushroom dream), Spring Onion Pretzel, the classic Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese, and the list goes on and on…
5. LOKL: Excellent coffee
Centrally located in the middle of downtown, I popped into LOKL for the best brunch in Kuala Lumpur during a street art hunting adventure. On my radar for quite some time, it didn’t disappoint. My weakness is coffee, and I’d always heard that this spot does incredible (and strong) coffee.
Also, I just love its vibes, sitting in the outdoor courtyard, dripping vines surrounding me, along with brightly colored food fit for the ‘Gram.

The food is divine, and the menu comprises a diverse range of dishes. There’s Colombian scrambled eggs, a strawberry and edamame salad, eggs Florentine served on a bagel (my go-to), smoothie bowls, pancake stacks, pastas, chicken and waffles, brunch burgers, and more yummy bites.
6. lola: Glasshouse setting
Where Lebanon meets Australia, wine and dine in a glasshouse at lola with an abundance of greenery all around you.
So the flavor profiles are Lebanese-inspired, but the brunch concept is Australian. Makes sense, and I can also see how Lebanese-style dishes suit Malaysian cuisine.

The all-day breakfast menu is served until 5 pm. Indulge in Ottoman Eggs, Greek-style shakshuka, falafel, fried oyster burgers, Persian lamb shank, portobello mushroom fries, dukkah basil pesto linguine, Lebanese honey drizzled spiced fried chicken, and more. There’s loads to choose from, including mezze, souvlaki, wraps, grilled kebabs, salads, small bites (served after 11am), food from the charcoal, etc.
Don’t pass up scoping the separate pastries menu either. Even if you’re full: takeaway!
7. Red Beanbag: For parents and kids
Whimsical as ever, one of the first things you’ll notice within this best brunch in Kuala Lumpur cafe is the mural of Humpty Dumpty sitting in a tree…Hanging plants in macrame baskets hang from the ceiling, rope lights dangle from above, and fairy lights are strung from one side of the room to the other. It’s pretty magical.
Food and drinks match in goodness — there’s nothing worse than a restaurant with incredible brunch food but terrible coffee.

Established circa 2011, Red Beanbag is another one of the capital’s cafes that takes inspo from Australia’s dining scene. Notice how common this is in Southeast Asia (as Australia is just over the way).
Expect a combination of Western and Asian flavors. Also, if you’re traveling with kids, how cute is this…They offer a special daily Kids High Tea Set (but only from 2 pm to 5 pm). There’s also a kids’ playground here.
8. Brew & Bread: A minimalist dream
Giving me all the Nordic vibes, Brew & Bread is my kind of place.
The minimalist interiors are a Scandi-meets-Japanese dream.
During weekdays, it’s a fabulous working spot for Digital Nomads. However, come Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, live DJs rev up the ambiance during brunch time with music while the baristas work their magic behind the coffee counter. And yes, it is artisanal coffee. Vinyls, art, and books line the shelves.

Cuisine is fusion-style comfort food, like duck leg confit with brussels, chicken dumplings, caramel and butter croissants, zucchini hummus with pita bread, and colorful veggie-topped toasts.
This best brunch in Kuala Lumpur spot has two locations in the city.
9. FEEKA: Amazing service
Always busy, FEEKA is one of KL’s coolest cafes. It’s where the trendy crowds come to brunch.
Insane coffee art, flavored kombuchas like yuzu citron, French toasts and pancakes, and top-notch fast and friendly service, it ticks all the boxes, right?

Talking food, you’ll find all the classic breakfast, brunch, and cafe-type foods at FEEKA. Eggs royale, huge fry-ups, a range of stacked toasties (like the melted triple cheese or slow-cooked pulled beef), Moroccan prawn and mushroom risotto, burgers, and berry pancakes are a few tasty examples.
The drinks menu is extensive. I love the pink bandung espresso.
10. Merchants Lane: For a taste of Malaysia
Ah, another OG cafe among the best brunch in Kuala Lumpur, Merchants Lane is in Chinatown and is a wonderful option to sample local flavors.
But if not everyone you’re traveling with is in the mood for Malaysian food, the menu is diverse, with dishes from around the world. Portion sizes are huge!

Half the fun is hunting down this little gem, accessed through an unassuming turquoise blue doorway next to a stationery shop. Stepping inside is like entering into a merchant’s home back in the day, and I love the combination of exposed walls with flicks of turquoise here and there.
I’m 100% a wonton girl, which they do here (a must order, especially because you’re in Chinatown). Other yummies include Turkish-style shakshuka, beef tortilla, and char siew chicken wraps.
After you’re done with brunch and have explored the ins and outs of the city, nighttime calls for discovering KL’s rooftop bars (and you best believe with sparkling city views).
Planning where to travel to after Kuala Lumpur. If you’re not off to an island, like Redang Island — which by the way is beautiful — another iconic destination in Malaysia not to be missed is Penang. Check out our 3-day itinerary for some major inspiration.
