I’m a child of the ocean through and through, and Vietnam’s coastal cities are always a gem on my travel itinerary.
Sprawling the coastline in Central Vietnam (forming part of the Khanh Hoa Province), Nha Trang is an oceanic oasis, where activities like scuba diving and beach-lazing top all agendas. If you’re about to enter the city and are seeking out the best restaurants in Nha Trang Vietnam, this list will serve you well.
There’s a massive Eastern European community here which gives an incredibly unique and unexpected flavor (sometimes literally) to the food on offer in Nha Trang. The restaurant scene is a combination of local Vietnamese cuisine, western food, as well as foodie genres from other Asian countries. From brunch to fine dining, we’ve got you covered on the gems to indulge in.

1. MẮM – Inspired by Central Vietnam
It’s quite literally physically impossible to walk past MẮM and not notice one of the best restaurants in Nha Trang Vietnam for local Vietnamese cuisine. The exterior entrance looks exactly like a corn cob soaring toward the heavens! It sounds arb, but it’s very striking and is created by the design of the roof tiles. Peaking your curiosity is an understatement.
Walking inside, the deep rich red terra cotta walls and earthy design reflect central Vietnam’s Champa influences (the Champa ruled this region during the 15th century). Gifting diners with “homestyle Vietnamese flavors,” live musicians transport you even further into the past, playing melodies on a traditional zither and through bamboo flutes.
Food arrives in half coconuts or topping sheets of artistically crafted bamboo designs. On that note, the menu honors classic central flavors. Beef rolls wrapped in betel leaves, crabmeat-filled nem, dried mountain jelly salad with prawns and pork, sun-dried catfish with mango, and plenty more scrumptious delights!
2. Hispania Nha Trang – Fine dining Spanish bliss
From the streets of London to Brussels and now Nha Trang, it’s pretty epic that this iconic restaurant chain’s first Asian take-off is right here in this sweet coastal Vietnamese city!
If you’ve ever dined at one of the other Hispania locations, this one is equally impressive, from the all-white interiors (which make you think of Spain circa the 50s with its curves and spiral accents) to the bold-yet-clean food presentation. I’ve got a serious thing for crockery and I’d happily add every single plate used here to my own kitchen collection.
As one can imagine, the spotlight is on Spanish cuisine using the freshest ingredients. The ‘salpicón’ is a mouth-watering star (lobster, monkfish, and prawn salad). ‘Mellow rice’ is a must-try, but any of their mains (and yes, they do paella), tapas, and desserts will linger on your mind for a long time. It’s undoubtedly one of (if not thee) best restaurants in Nha Trang Vietnam for fine-dining lovers.
3. La Cala – For when you need to ASAP (Aperol Spritz & Pasta)
Is it just me or has anyone noticed that Italian food is making a serious comeback — not that it ever went out of fashion, but you catch my drift. I lay this down to the recent trend of the Aperol Spritz train! Whatever the case, La Cala is as cool as an Italian cucumber (if that’s even a thing).
I got back from a recent trip to Italia, and I gotta say, the food here is authentic and showcases the flavors and cooking styles of southern Italy. Pizza bases are thick with puffy crusts (Neapolitan-style), homemade pasta sauces are slow-cooked for hours, and seafood-heavy dishes are done the classic Sicilian way. Order the red grouper in bright tomato sauce on a bed of salted rice and olives, or the Luciana-inspired baby octopus stew is also a winner.
The restaurant setup is reminiscent of an Italian seaside ristorante — including the blue and white pinstripe napkins. “Buon appetito!”
4. Veteran – Do like the Koreans
Here’s your fun random fact for the day: South Koreans love Nha Trang! In fact, recent stats have shown that in many Vietnamese cities, Koreans make up about 80% of travelers. Pretty crazy, right? Nonetheless, don’t be surprised to see quite a few Korean restaurants around the city.
Veteran makes it onto the list of best restaurants in Nha Trang Vietnam for Korean food heaven. It exudes an industrial-cool vibe from the onset of its red brick facade, and the interiors are set up as a pukka Korean-style BBQ restaurant. Tables are overlaid with stone grills and the accompanying meats (wagyu and every other cut of beef under the sun, pork, duck, shrimp, octopus, etc.) are brought to your table. Then, you do the cooking over a massive flame!
Order individual pieces of what you like for the BBQ or instead of the whole BBQ vibe, tuck into one of the meal options, like kimchi fried rice or spicy noodles.
5. Alpaca homestyle cafe – For all the homely feels
Even when traveling to new countries, sometimes, all you crave is a good ol’ hearty meal.
Seared tuna nicoise salad, spaghetti and homemade meatballs, grilled salmon drizzling in beurre blanc sauce, slow-cooked oats with fresh strawberries and mango, and moist carrot cake are the types of dishes to expect from this familiar favorite. Open from 8 am, stop over at Alpaca homestyle cafe for brekkie, brunch, lunch, or dinner time.
Artsy posters of alpacas decorate the space, naturally, and even the front green-colored building dons a giant alpaca. There are two levels to the cafe (including outdoor seating), and wooden tables, chandeliers, and billowing white curtains make you feel extra cozy at home.
6. Nha Trang Xưa – A cultural immersion
A cultural expedition and meal in one go? Consider me sold! Set up within a “tourist village” (a popular concept in Asian countries, like Indonesia and Thailand), Nha Trang Xưa is designed to represent the old Nha Trang during the rule of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802–1945).
Half the fun is joining in local activities that form part of this culinary tour. Row a boat through a lotus flower pond, witness traditional folk games, stroll through the gardens, and get dressed in an ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress). Uncover plenty of photo-op spaces here.
Food is spread out beautifully as a buffet style in local woven bamboo baskets and classic Vietnamese ceramics and clay pots. Of course, the cuisine is Nha Trang favorites. So expect a lot of seafood.
7. Shibui – Sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki and more
Clean flavor profiles, impeccable cooking techniques, and omakase tastings, Shibui is everything you’d expect from a top-level Japanese eatery.
Under the alms of Head Chef Danny Yong, he’s worked with Michelin-star chefs, so you’re in great hands. Every dish is kissed with natural flair, creativity, and color. Make sure to sit around the sushi bar if you can because they specialize in teppanyaki – and there’s a private dining room if you wanna get fancy schmancy.
If you’re searching for one of the best restaurants in Nha Trang to itch your craving for Japanese, look no further than Shibui. Good to know, it’s located inside the Villa Le Corail Gran Meliá hotel.
8. MIX – A firm local favorite
Okay, okay, I know. A Greek restaurant… in Vietnam? But trust me, MIX has been around for nearly a decade and is owned by Greeks. Plus, with the ocean on your doorstep in Nha Trang, you can see the correlation between Greece’s Mediterranean-rich diet and this part of the country.
Blue and white interiors? Check! Pink bougainvillea hanging from corners? Check! Seafood (or meat) platters? Double check! And, of course, they do souvlaki, too.
The portion sizes are big, and complimentary dessert is often on the cards. My only qualm is the lack of proper ellinikos kafes, i.e., Greek coffee. However, Vietnam is famous for its own style of coffee, so at least there’s that.
All that’s left to say is “opa” — I’ll have one dish of each!
9. Dining by the Rocks – For date night
With the ocean’s breeze (and vistas) right on its doorstep, Dining by the Rocks is nestled away in Ninh Van Bay. Technically, this is still part of the Nha Trang peninsula, but it’s about an hour’s drive from the city center.
But when you get a load of the location, setting, ambiance, and food from this fine dining spot, it’s easy to understand why I couldn’t leave this one off.
Perfect for those in search of a romantic restaurant, take a seat outside while watching the ebb and flow of the ocean below your feet. The menu showcases local seafood and meat, and it’s within the gorgeous Six Senses resort.
10. Artisan Cafe & Eatery – A little brunch wonderland
I’m totally guilty of being part of the big brunch gang! For some reason, I’m never super hungry first thing in the morning, nor a massive fan of eggs, so brunch for me is the ultimate!
Open between 7 am and 5 pm, Artisan Cafe & Eatery is more of a cafe than a restaurant, but the food, vibes, and interiors are really magical. However, they do host special extended evenings some days of the week — check their socials to stay in the loop — like wine evenings, sampling delicious vino from my home country, South Africa.
Walking inside, you’re engulfed by floating mist over what feels like a fairy pathway. The food is trendy; the drinks match. It certainly deserves its place on our list of the best restaurants in Nha Trang Vietnam.
