Bali is RENOWNED for its accommodation.
One of my favorite parts about traveling is picking the places to stay. Although it’s my husband’s worst (he knows my ridiculously-long saved lists across all the accommodation platforms are heading his way), I thrive on discovering beautiful stays.
With many architects and interior design studios taking a page out of the Bali accommodation scene book, the island destination is famous for its stunning plethora of hotels, villas, bamboo treehouses, rice paddy homes, and and and!
Are you heading to the island of the gods soon and hunting down the most magical and unique places to stay in Bali? You know…the type to make your heart skip a beat, your feet tingle, and butterflies swarm around your tummy at the thought of staying there? Here are 10 breathtaking stays to set you off in the right direction and create dollops of inspiration!

1. Lodge in the Woods: Horse Sanctuary
I repeat…Welcome to Lodge in the Woods: a horse sanctuary-meets-fairytale stay, where every moment feels like it belongs in a Disney movie/fantasy novel. I love horses; they’re such sentient beings! So to think that you can wake up to these beauties every day is incredible!
For this spot among the unique places to stay in Bali, they offer sound bath healing sessions, yoga in the open-air river house, forest bathing, and other therapeutic treatments.

Choose between six gorgeous rooms (each one named after the farm’s rescued horses and goats), all following a dreamy all-white aesthetic. This place is MAGICAL! And it is one for the true animal lovers.
2. Oniria: Bamboo house dreams
If you hear me using the words “magical” and “fairytale-like” a lot, it’s because these unique places to stay in Bali personify these adjectives, and there’s simply no other feelings that take over you. Oniria reminds me of another world. The stark contrasts of colours and raw materials, thanks to its positioning among the rice terraces…I die over such locations and architecture!
This bamboo dream reminds me of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series, but more specifically, a place where Harfoot hobbit, Nori, would live!

The vistas…the private pool on the edge of your house (where I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw a mermaid pop up from beneath the waters)…the indoor rain shower…the hanging nets over the paddies…WOW!
3. Further: Exceptional architecture
If there’s one thing that I love as much as traveling (and food), it’s got to be architecture. It’s one of my keen interests, and so Further popped onto my radar immediately. The multiple-award-winning stay won the Condé Nast Hot List for 2024. This spot was also included in GQ’s Most Stylish Hotels list for 2025, appeared in Elle Decor Italia, as well as in Tatler’s Best 100 Hotels!
Terra-cotta dreams are made of these: the primary colour featured in the building’s design. Even from the exterior, the hotel stands out from the usual Bali accommodation crowd. It feels very Moroccan-cum-European.

The hotel is set out across four buildings, offering suites, penthouse and studio options. If you, too, appreciate design, add this to the top of your list of unique places to stay in Bali!
4. Numa: In the rice terraces
For anyone checking into Numa, there’s a (very) good chance that once you arrive, you’ll never want to leave! Located in Sidemen, these villas are completely away from the heave of the island, equating to slow mornings and truly appreciating your surroundings, as well as every last detail that the accommodation has to offer.
On the property, there are three villas to choose from, each one varying slightly in size and amenities. For example, one boasts two levels. Another has a hammock within a tropical garden. The third has a private outdoor fire pit, outdoor bathtub, and outdoor shower! My favorite part? The private slide straight into your flower-petal-laden pool!

Floating breakfasts and massages are available, as well as floral baths and romantic dinner setups.
P.S. Villa stays are super common in Bali. Staying in a villa doesn’t have the same price tag as if you were booking a villa in, say, LA.
5. Bambu Indah: Nature’s reverie
Clay, bamboo, wicker, ferns…Step inside a natural wonderland at Bambu Indah! Dubbing itself an artisanal hotel, the 24 accommodation options are out of this world! Cue the freestanding raw material houses, iconic Bali nests, or glam tents.
My favorite is the treehouse vibes, where it takes climbing spiral staircases to reach your room, covered with a mushroom-like rooftop. Book the Full Moon House if you can!

It’s easy to imagine the entire setting as the home of pixies, gnomes, and fairies. It oozes a charming, whimsical feel, where all sorts of magic are possible (and real). On the wellness front, they offer some incredible therapies like ‘Nervous System Balance,’ and all food is homegrown on the land you sleep upon.
6. Munduk Moding Plantation Nature Resort: On a coffee plantation
Nestled between the greens of a working coffee plantation (imagine the smells), Munduk Moding Plantation Nature Resort is in Buleleng. Think jungle panoramas, treetop canopies, and ocean views all meshed into one!
Their infinity pools are award-winning (yup, you did read that right), and they are ideal for that iconic Balinese watershot where it appears as if you’re standing on the edge of the world.

Wake up with your head in the clouds between the villas and suites. Most sport its own private pool and jacuzzi.
Useful to know: It is classified as an official 5-star hotel and is a fabulous option for those on honeymoon looking to splurge on the unique stays in Bali.
7. Hideout: Near the Gunung Agung volcano
Wake to the serene sounds of a gushing river and the sweetest smell of Mother Nature at Hideout.
Just as the name describes, you feel as if you’re hidden away from reality within this jungle forest, nestled away in the lush mountains.
The design of these famous bamboo houses is very intentional, and it’s another one of the unique stays in Bali where you’ll immediately be adding similar ideas for your dream house Pinterest board!

Choose from 13 accommodation options, varying in size and price tags, like the Hideout cocoon, beehive, hay house, Hideout zen, or Hideout tantra.
8. Bambootel Sawah View: Romantic architecture
Bambootel is luxe, and it’s the perfect little getaway for couples. Everything about it is romantic, as if it were designed for lovers. I low-key love the fact that this is an adults-only hotel. Because sometimes, you just don’t want to hear kiddies running around, especially honeymooners.
Private hot tubs are set above rooftops — the views overlooking the rice terraces below you from this angle are next level, excuse the pun — and a gigantic heated pool runs through the middle of the resort.

It is a little on the high price tag, but it’s very much worth it. That being said, in comparison to what you’d pay for a stay like this in another country, it’s still a steal!
By the way, Bambootel has a variety of Bambootels across Bali. Sawah View is right by Ubud.
9. LOST LINDENBERG: Above a lava sand beach
If you’re familiar with the name, that’s because Lindenberg operates a chain of architecturally stunning hotels around the world, including Germany and Norway.
Different from the plethora of rice paddy, jungle, or ordinary beach stays, Lost Lindenberg is set upon a black lava sand beach, deeming its location extra special in my opinion. The hotel itself features a lot of woods, and is another one of the unique places to stay in Bali, featured in plenty of famous architecture and design magazines!

Another important thing to know is that the hotel operates as a plant-based only stay, meaning all meals (if you’re dining here) are 100% vegan and seasonal.
10. Magic Hills: Perfect for honeymooners
Everything you imagine from a Balinese stay, Magic Hills has got it!
Floating brekkies, pools dripping in colourful florals upon arrival, private forest bathtubs, bouncy nets jutting out over green terraces — the perfect spot for a morning coffee whilst cuddled beneath blankets — and of course, your very own garden pool.

Apart from all the features, the design of each villa is sublime (there are 18 total). Billowing curtains, macrame hammocks flittering in the gentle breeze, secret bamboo doorways with skilful art, and bamboo-made everything!
Bali truly is one of the most magical destinations on Earth, from its out-of-this-world stays to its beaches to its food! Speaking of, I’ve covered the unique places to stay in Bali, but what about the dining and wining bits?
