Oh, romantic Seville, no place is quite like you in all of Spain. And let me just tell you, using this adjective to describe the city is no cliche. Fairy lights adorn the cobbled alleyways at night, horses trot by, and Spanish-style buildings are preciously preserved. Travelers cycle everywhere, there are fountains, and don’t get me started on the parks…

This city was the first place I ever visited in Spain, and boy oh boy did it win me over instantly. My best friend and I spent a few days gulping down oversized glasses of sangria and cruising with traveling crowds at night from one tapas bar to the next! But that was in my early 20s. Now, over 10 years later, my drinking habits are a little different. So these days when I return, I’m always on the search for the best bars in Seville for excellent cocktails, a fab glass of wine, delicious sangria (not the ultra cheap kind), and even a rooftop or two.

So, without further adieu, here you go! Drink your way through my list of Seville’s top bars. “Salud!”

1. Naked and Famous: Award-winning mixologists

Playful is one of the first things that springs to mind when entering Naked and Famous. Not to mention the name amplifies this…That’s exactly what you get from these mixologist champions, with a sprinkling of funk.

Sweeping in the awards and claiming the winner’s title for European mixology competitions, as well as for top cocktail bar (both 2023 and 2024), you can’t go wrong with any of the drinks here. It’s no wonder they’re one of the best bars in Seville, if not the top cocktail spot.

Open until the early hours (on Saturdays they close at 3 am, other nights 2 am), you’ll forget about time within this pastel pink space. My go-to cocktails here include ‘The Love of My Life’ (tequila, passion fruit, chili) and ‘Pumpkin Up’ (Dewar’s 12, St Germain, pumpkin whiskey). There are, of course, the classics, from an espresso martini to an old-fashioned. Oh, and also a few mocktail options

2. Lama La Uva: For the wine lovers

Whether it’s a sweet little Spanish wine-tasting experience you’re after, or simply seeking a glass of fine natural wine, Lama La Uva has the backs of all wine appreciators.

As mentioned, showcasing Spanish vino is at the forefront of this wine bar. It’s not overtly large, or a space that screams “look at me.” Yet the interiors are super cozy and inviting, and ooze tradition without feeling outdated. I love the flicks of teal blue painted over wooden sections, and shelves display dozens of wine bottles.

Tapas are available here, too — as is the standard case at most wine bars in Spain. And get this: They also offer sherry tastings and food and wine pairings. Sold! When it comes to wine, it’s one of my best bars in Seville for sure.

3. Montana Cocktails: An ode to Seville

The moment you enter Montana Cocktail, you feel as if you’re being transported to a bygone era…Of time passed. But then again, Seville aggressively retains its traditions. This is probably one of the reasons I fell in love with the city.

The drinks pay homage to Sevilla, celebrating local flavors whilst recreating local history book pages in every glass. For example, the ‘1925’ is inspired by the trends of that year in the city, particularly the residential and commercial buildings built at the time. It comes with a rosemary bubble, and when you pop it, blows up in a plume of smoke. This cocktail is alcohol-free, by the way

Then there’s the ‘Jagueteria’ which many order simply for the fun presentation — arriving in a mini tub, yellow rubber duckie included! It’s named after a former city toy store. Go figure… Ingredients include Tanqueray, lemon juice, maraschino, hibiscus, and red fruit air.

They often host cool events and themed nights here. If you have the time, I’d definitely encourage popping past a few times!

4. La Terraza del EME: Rooftop with Cathedral views

Other than the best bars in Seville located on the ground, the city does boast some gorgeous rooftop spots, too. One thing that I love about Seville (and most of Spain is the same) is that there aren’t any crazy skyscrapers or ultra-modern buildings taking over the horizon. So don’t go expecting those vibes here.

However, La Terraza del EME is fantastic for panoramic views, especially those of the Seville Cathedral and its iconic Giralda bell tower.

Take things up a notch and book out a private booth for your drinking duration (pre-booking essential, along with a hefty price tag). Or, simply arrive for the vibes, and every Friday and Saturday, the DJ. It opens up from midday and closes at midnight.

5. Maldito Cocktail Bar: Classics poured to perfection

There’s nothing worse than ordering your favorite alcoholic beverage, and instantly on that first sip, you can taste that it’s out of balance! A little too much of this…Not enough of that… But that’s why I love Maldito Cocktail Bar.

From classic martinis to palomas; the mixologists focus on shaking up damn good cocktails with perfect ratios! Whether you’re in the mood for a boulevardier or a negroni, every drink is made to perfection.

Interior-wise, don’t expect anything too crazy. Yet it’s the drinks’ quality, service, and general atmosphere that keep bringing thirsty friends back for more! They’re located in the Alfalfa area.

6. The Second Room: Cocktails topped with flowers

Visiting the Spanish Gothic Catedral de Sevilla in El Centro? Well, of course you are, this is probably one of the must-see sites while you’re in Seville. However, be warned: exploring can leave one very parched (at least that’s my experience).

Just two minutes’ walking distance from the 16th-century landmark is another one of the best bars in Seville: The Second Room

Any espresso martini fans in the house? The one from this establishment is extra delicious, and the coffee ratio done just right. Also, take advantage of Happy Hour (Thursday-Sunday) on mojitos and caipiriñas. But there’s not just one happy hour, but two! From 5 pm to 6 pm, and then again from 9 pm to 10 pm. You know where to find me…

7. Bar Alfalfa: For tapas and sangria

Okay, technically, Bar Alfalfa is a classic tapas bar, but it simply oozes soul and is a favorite of Sevillians. It would be embarrassing if I didn’t include this local drinking hole on the list of best bars in Seville.

I’ve only included one tapas bar (at every corner is a tapas spot in Seville). This is where you want to come for a glass of sangria or wine and all the true Spanish feels. You never know, someone might just break out into flamenco dancing here…

The exterior building tells its story, showing you the time-worn years, yet it’s still left standing and as popular as ever. This one’s an excellent choice for sampling true Southern Spanish tapas (vastly different from destinations like Barcelona), sangria, and vino! Or, even a beer

8. Pura Vida Terraza: Watch a flamenco

I’ve added one other rooftop to my checklist of the best bars in Seville, i.e., Pura Vida Terraza. Usually, if you see the word ‘terraza’ anywhere in Spain, it’s referring to a rooftop.

Have you been itching to witness the flamenco? Your chances of doing so are pretty much 100% here, too. They have dedicated flamenco concerts on the La Giralda tablao section of the rooftop, and you can book a table online for these.

Otherwise, listen to the sounds of music, sip back on cocktails, and drink in the 12th-century Giralda Tower vistas

9. Faena River Club: Next to the water

At first, I was hesitant about Faena River Club after mixed reviews, but hear me out on this one. I think a lot of these were pre-makeover. Since its renovation and new name, it’s become a wonderful spot right next to the river for day drinking. Or nighttime escapades.

The decor is bright and playful, and everything feels really fresh and open thanks to the actual space of this place.

Colorful striped umbrellas, fun statues, and a whole bunch of eclectic prints and patterns make up the decor, and I love it! Find all your typical favorite cocktails (order the spicy mango margarita), spritz, or you can’t go wrong with a giant jug of sangria!

P.S. I’ve traveled the South of Spain extensively, even working at a backpackers in Cadiz summers ago. I’d been to Barcelona but never explored the ins and outs of the Balearic Islands, until recently. Along with my besties and hubby, we decided on Mallorca (also spelt Majorca). I must be dead-honest…I still prefer Southern Spain (but that’s my personal preference). But I know that the Balearic Islands are a hotspot at present, and don’t have any regrets about visiting.
